Material tables can be changed using the Catalog/Drawing Property pages, discussed below, the Table Editor or Excel, which are best for bulk changes. However, whatever method is used, the result is the same - the file content has changed and requires Refreshing. If a refresh is desired, then it is probably good to do both the Catalog and the Drawing (although the catalog should refresh as it opens).
Materials can be refreshed using the Refresh buttons located in Catalog/Drawing Properties, on the following pages:-
Note that amendments to the materials database via the Materials Manager will not automatically update the default materials.
Many individual materials can be refreshed using the Refresh button located on the following pages under the Materials-Advanced category:-
Refresh all the default materials data through My Setup > Material DataSources page
Remember: Changes made to materials using the Materials Manager will not automatically update the same materials in the current drawing (or catalog editing session) if it was already selected prior to the change. As a new drawing is started default materials will refresh to the latest.
This is deliberate as it stops details (particularly prices) of already quoted drawings from changing. However, properties can be manually refreshed as discussed.
Pricing Only
If you want your drawing to always use the current pricing for the materials then use the Look Up Current Pricing checked on the Pricing > Settings page as shown...
